Nancy Anders
December 18, 1941 — May 28, 2025
After living more than 83 wonderful years, Nancy Ridenour Anders passed away on May 28, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. Nancy now celebrates a joyful reunion with her husband of 63 years, John “Jack” Anders; love never dies. Nancy was born on December 18, 1941, the 10th and youngest child of Emory M. and Elsie Francis Ridenour. She spent a happy childhood in London, Ohio, where she would eventually raise her family. A natural caretaker, Nancy was a graduate of Mercy Practical Nursing School.
Immediately after graduating and turning 18, she married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Jack. In their union, Jack and Nancy had five unique and beloved children, Desiree (Peter) Daroczy, Jon (Michelle) Anders, Ben (Terry) Anders, Kirsten (Kelley) Kimley, and Elise (Ari) Altman. She had 12—favorite—grandchildren, depending on who asked: Adrienne Lipstraw, Allegra (Pat) Inman and Alexandria (Marcus) Sprout; Abby, Cassie and Ashton Anders; Addison and Caroline Anders; Levi and Lea Kimley; and Jack and Seth Altman.
Wife, Mom, and Grandma were her favorite titles, and she was over the moon to be adding Great-Grandma to the list later this year. She has three great-granddaughters on the way.
Nancy appreciated the little things. She traveled the world with Jack in the passenger seat, stopping at as many landmarks as possible along the way. All 12 grandkids were blessed with an involved Grandma who never missed an opportunity to cheer them on at an event, take a few (shaky) pictures, and admire their accomplishments every step of the way.
She is remembered for her enthusiastic embrace of life, her welcoming home, her old-fashioned heart, her comforting soul, her detailed stories, and her unyielding love of her family and friends. She leaves a large space that we will attempt to fill with beautiful memories in emulation of her.
In addition to Jack, Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law John Lipstraw; brothers Otmer, Raymond, Russell, Cecil, and Paul; sisters Dorma, Velma, and Evelyn; many nieces, nephews, and close cousins on the Francis side. Alongside her children and grandchildren, Nancy is survived by sister Hester Ann and close friend Barb Davis. Nancy is a member of the First Presbyterian Church in London.
Please join us in celebrating Nancy’s life on Sunday, June 1 at the Tidd Family Funeral Home (5265 Norwich Street, Hilliard). Visitation will be held from 12 to 3 pm with services immediately following. There will be a private family burial at a later date.
“The belief you are loved and a life well-lived are gifts we want to leave our children, as my mother and father left me.”

Alexius “Alex” John Pieramico was “waiting for Jesus,” crossed over peacefully into the arms of our Lord, May 18, 2025, to meet his Valentine, Sharmalee, at the Pearly Gates. He was born on March 13, 1931, in east Columbus to his late parents, Mary Rose (Volpi) and Dominic “Andrew” Pieramico. Also preceding his death were his sisters, Nancy Caroline (Harry) Sipe, Theresa (Karl) Casmer, Dolores (infant) Pieramico and Marie Dolores Pieramico.
Alex married Sharmalee on April 30, 1955, at St Thomas the Apostle Church. They resided in southeast Columbus for 68 years. They attended St Mary’s Catholic Church in Groveport, Ohio, for 66 years until its closing and then he joined Christ the King Church in Columbus, Ohio.
Alex attended St Thomas the Apostle Church and elementary school. He would walk from his east Columbus home to caddy at the Columbus Country Club to earn money for his family. After attending the former Aquinas High School, he joined the United States Navy during the Korean War. His crew commissioned the USS Coral Sea, October 1, 1947. He was a 2nd Class Petty Officer Boilerman Technician to fire the boilers for fresh water to drink, shower and make repairs in port as well as a “Smoke Watch.” He served until 1952.
He briefly worked for the City of Columbus as a plumber where he earned his master boilermaker license. He became a fireman for the Columbus Fire Department, June 1, 1953, to March 12, 1983, where he retired from Station 5 as a lieutenant. He thoroughly enjoyed being a fireman, teaching his trade and loved cooking for his crew. After retiring, he went full time with his independent business of water softening and conditioning, Century Water Company. He was instrumental in the construction of the former Riveria Country Club in Dublin, Ohio, in 1970. He was a member of the American Italian Golf Association (AIGA). He had been a member of the Giulianova Teramo Society, lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, VFW and the American Legion. He was an avid golfer and took pride in his game. He golfed at many places across the US with his golf buds. He taught each of his children how to golf and the proper etiquette for the sport. He had multiple “hole in ones” throughout his career but he was never boastful. The many winters spent in Ft Myers, our mother was the golfer widow. We always joked he ate, slept and breathed golf until his macular degeneration took that all away.
Alex is survived by his children, Nadine (David) Spires, Lisa (Michael) Gwilym, Martin Pieramico (Jonathan) and Mary (John) McAvoy; grandchildren, Alex (Sara) Lobaugh, Patricia McAvoy, Elizabeth “Lizzy” McAvoy (Brad) Bass, Michelle (Khari) Chinn and Alexis Gwilym; great grandchildren, Wren and Henry Lobaugh; nieces, nephews and special dear friends.

Bruce Alan Ashcraft, November 3, 1951 – April 23, 2025
With deep sorrow and enduring love, we announce the passing of Bruce Alan Ashcraft, who left this world surrounded by family and faith. A man of great heart, humor, and humility, he devoted his life to service, adventure, connection, and family. Bruce was born on November 3, 1951, in Columbus and passed away unexpectedly at home on April 23, 2025.
Bruce began his lifelong love of the fire service washing trucks for the Pataskala Fire Department before he was even out of high school. He became a member of the volunteer department for ten years and was later one of the founding members of the West Licking Joint Fire District. Bruce was active in the district, serving as a firefighter, paramedic, fire inspector, investigator, and Lieutenant during his 32-year professional career. He was also part of the Firefighters Association for over 50 years, helping to organize and run the Pataskala Street Fair.
Bruce loved the Lord with a faith that was strong and constant. He grew up in the Pataskala United Methodist Church and later became an active member of the Jersey Baptist Church. He was a member of the choir and passionate about singing. Bruce was a member of the church’s Grow Group, Men’s Golf Fellowship, and other small groups. His strong belief in God was the foundation of who he was, steady and unshakable.
He was a man of many passions. He found joy in golfing, off-roading on side-by-sides, hunting, traveling, member of the Pataskala Masonic Lodge 404 and racing his cherished 1970 Chevrolet Malibu, a car he first raced at 19. His adventurous spirit never faded. His professional life reflected that same energy, whether he was behind the wheel of a pole truck for the Electric Company, , driving tanker trucks for MatLack, then switched to dump trucks for Red Skin Trucking, delivering vehicles for Indiana Transport, or working as a car courier for Coughlin. He loved taking a route he had never seen before.
But more than anything, Bruce will be remembered for his heart. He never met a stranger anywhere he went; a new friend and a good conversation awaited him. He made people feel welcome, heard, and loved.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Marilyn (Hitt) Ashcraft; his great-nephew, Julian Welch; and brother-in-law, Melvin Smith.
Bruce met Kathleen at a milkshake stand and never looked away. He shared 55 beautiful years, and they were married for 50 of those years to his beloved wife, Kathleen (Watts) Ashcraft, and they built a legacy of love and faith. He is survived by his devoted children: Alan (Emily) Ashcraft, Nathan (Palma) Ashcraft, and Ann (Jonathan) Kesler, and cherished grandchildren: Harrison, Grant, Lauren, Megan, Oliver, Jocelyn, and Ellis. Also surviving are his loving sisters: Diana, Susan, Beverly, Linda, and Lisa; brother-in-law Mark (Cindy) Watts; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Though our hearts are heavy, we celebrate a well-lived life filled with laughter, purpose, and love. He touched the lives of so many, and his memory will continue to shine in the memories with which he blessed us.

“If you are able,
save for them a place
inside of you
and save one backward glance
when you are leaving
for the places they can
no longer go.
Be not ashamed to say
you loved them,
though you may
or may not have always.
Take what they have left
and what they have taught you with their dying
and keep it with your own.
And in that time,
when men decide and feel safe to call the War insane,
take one moment to embrace those gentle Heroes you left behind.”
Major Michael Davis O’Donnell, Vietnam, January 1, 1970

James “Jim” H. Kessler, 87, of Marysville, passed away Saturday afternoon, January 11, 2025, at his home following months of failing health.
One of two children, Jim was born May 15, 1937, in Columbus, to the late Harold C. and Viola (Reeder) Kessler. A graduate of South High School and veteran of the US Army, Jim began his long and proud career as a firefighter and paramedic that spanned 30 years. He worked as a firefighter and fire inspector, beginning in 1960 at Station 10 and then continued at Station 17, both on West Broad St. He eventually became one of the first paramedics to train for the pioneering “Heartmobile,” which went into service in April of 1969 and is believed to be the first of its kind in the United States– the predecessor to the modern-day ambulance. He retired from the Columbus Division of Fire in 1990. During his early years as a firefighter/paramedic, Jim met and married his beloved wife, Virgina L. Jeffrey, March 12, 1966. She preceded him in death on March 3, 2005, after nearly 40 years of marriage.
During his working years and after retirement, Jim enjoyed farming on his 120 acre farm on Ford Reed Rd., where he also did construction jobs on the side – he simply liked to keep busy. A man of strong faith, he attended the Church of Christ in both Marysville and Delaware, and was also a member and past president of the Marysville Evening Lions Club. Incredibly handy, Jim also loved and had great skill for wood working, and he enjoyed fishing and rooting on the Ohio State Buckeyes. He found great joy in being around children, and became known as “Mr. Jim” the candy man at church. The children of his congregation flocked to him every Sunday for some sweet treats, and the church gifted him a cloth candy bag signed by the children for him to use. While this role was a delight to him, nothing gave him greater happiness than his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and recently his “fur grandchild” Zoe. They were the light of his life.
Jim is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Brian (Barbara) Kessler of Bellefontaine; grandchildren Samanatha (Rickey) Thompson and Drew (Cole) Kessler; beloved great grandchildren Andrew, Brian, Rickey and Nyah; a sister Dorothy Carte; a step son-in-law Bob Roscigno; good friend Bill Phyllis; as well as several extended family members and friends.
Along with his parents and his loving wife, Virgina, he was also preceded in death by a step daughter, Connie Roscigno; and a brother-in-law Gene Carte.
Calling hours will be 4-7 pm on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at Ingram & Snyder Funeral Home, 975 N. Maple St., Marysville. Private family burial will be held at Oakdale Cemetery with burial next to his wife, Virginia.
Ingram & Snyder Funeral Home is honored to serve Jim’s family, and condolences may be expressed to them at www.IngramFuneralService.com.
